Apple has always been debuting its new iPhones in September each year. According to a report on The Wall Street Journal, people who are familiar with the plans of Apple have revealed that the brand will be announcing three new iPhones and a smartwatch on 12th September. Some European carriers had also claimed earlier that the company would be debuting 2017 iPhones on 12th September. If this information is true, Apple may begin rolling out press invites in the next few days.
It is speculated that the launch event will be held at the new Steve Jobs Theater that is situated on Apple’s campus. However, the 1000-seater theater is still under construction. If the theater is not ready for the 12th September launch event, Apple may debut the new iPhones at the Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
The company has been using this auditorium since the past two years for its unveil events. Judging by the previous release patterns of Apple’s smartphones, it appears that the new iPhones may become available on pre-orders from 15th September and eventually hit the stores on 22nd September.
The rumor mill has been consistently claiming since the start of the year that Apple would be launching three smartphones this year. The iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus are expected to debut as the upgraded editions of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus from 2016. The third iPhone would be a premium one that is dubbed as “iPhone 8”, “iPhone Pro” and “iPhone X” by the rumor mill. The iPhone 8 is expected to arrive with advanced features in celebration of the tenth anniversary of iPhones. Speculations have it that Apple is facing production issues with iPhone 8 and make it available for buying in October.
Reports have revealed that the iPhone 8 could be the first smartphone from the company to feature an OLED panel. It is speculated to be fitted with a 5.8-inch OLED panel. Leaked renders have revealed that it would be featuring a full-screen design. It is expected to arrive with some new features such as 3D facial recognition and wireless charging. Recent reports have revealed that the iPhone 8 may not feature a Touch ID sensor at all.
The Apple iPhone 8 is speculated to arrive in storage options such as 64 GB, 256 GB and even 512 GB. Some of its other speculated features include a long-lasting L-shaped battery, Apple A11 chipset, and AR capabilities. It is likely to be available with a starting price of $1,000.
The Apple Watch 3 that is tipped to launch alongside the 2017 iPhones is expected to come with support for LTE connectivity through an embedded SIM. It may allow users to access internet and VOIP without pairing it with an iPhone. However, it is unlikely to function as a standalone device.
